FAQ

Eyelash Extensions

Proper eyelash application wouldn't hurt your natural lashes. At Lash Mama Studio, we don't just enhance eyelashes, we also focus on keeping the natural lash healthy and protected from damage. Our lash extensions are of the finest quality and our lash artists perform under the highest quality standards.

Lash extensions will not cause your natural eyelashes to fall out. Remember that your natural lashes have their own life cycle of falling and growing – like the hair found elsewhere on your body. It's hard to notice small lashes falling out, but when attached to a thicker, longer lash they become much more noticeable! Once the extensions are removed, your own eyes may appear smaller, your natural lashes, shorter and sparser because you've been accustomed to a full set of longer, thicker lashes.

Yes. The bonding agent we use is waterproof and allows you to shower, swim, exercise. However we recommend that you DO NOT WASH your eye area for at least 24 hours after the initial eyelash extension application. This allows the bonding agent to fully dry and prolong the life of your extensions.

Prior to your appointment, try your best to arrive 15 min earlier and without any eye makeup, do not curl your lashes or wear mascara the day of your appointment. It will help minimize the cleanup time and more time for lashing. Avoid caffeinated drinks before your first appointment.

Lash extensions are applied while you are lying down with your eyes closed on a comfortable spa bed. This usually takes about 2 hours for a full set of lashes. After prepping your lashes, your bottom lashes are protected with a gel eye pad, lash extensions are then applied 1-to-1 with medical grade adhesive. It is a really relaxing, non-invasive treatment and most of our clients take the time to catch up on their beauty sleep!

Your new lashes will last between 4 ot 5 weeks depending on your skincare routine and your own natural lash life cycle. To maintain the full look of your lashes, it will require you to maintain refills every 2-3 weeks.

We recommend getting refills every 2 to 4 weeks. If you wait too long your extensions will fall out and you will require a full set. Factors such as exposure to humidity, steam or touching your eyes a lot may cause the extensions to fall quicker. Refills can take from 60 to 80 minutes, depending on the state of your remaining lashes. A good sign of when you need a refill is when your extensions are 50%-60% gone.

We don't recommend applying mascara on your extensions.Mascara dissolves the bonding agent of the extensions and causes them to fall out sooner. Also, take care in washing off all eye makeup. Only use a water based eye makeup remover.

Keratin Lash Lift

PLEASE ARRIVE TO YOUR APPOINTMENT COMPLETELY FREE OF EYE MAKE UP! Also, you must stop usage of waterproof mascara at least 2 days prior to your Lift! If you wear contacts, they must be removed.

Lash extensions and lash lifts are 2 totally different animals. I will not be adding any additional lashes to you. I will simply be curling your natural lashes. That said, for most, it can make your lashes appear fuller because they are so uplifted.

Heck yes! Anyone with these types of pesky lashes will love the lash lift! Post treatment, your lashes will all be evenly dispersed and lifted.

Most of the time, yes. Though it can be challenging if the lashes aren't even long enough to bring up and back on to the shield. If when you come in, I see that your lashes are too short AND too fine or delicate, I will advise that you not get the Lift.

Chronic dry eye, conjunctivitis, damaged lashes or lashes with gaps (this treatment may make the gaps more noticeable), active eye infections of any kind, trichotillomania (habitual pulling out of lashes), recent chemo treatments (you will need to wait at least a year from your last treatment. When in doubt, always consult with your physician.)

Of course! You'll just achieve a more dramatic effect when mascara is applied to your curled lashes.

Keratin is a protein containing amino-acids; the protein that actually makes up your hair. Its purpose is to fill gaps in the follicles, hence restoring strength and health. The effect of keratin lasts longer than the application time, meaning your lashes continue to absorb its goodness like your face does of moisturizing cream.

No, there are different procedures. A lash perm is a very different process because it's curling the lash using an alkaline solution vs. With Keratin Lift the main ingredient 'Keratin "must be present in the solution in order for it to be considered a keratin lash lift.

Keratin lash lifts last for about four to 6 weeks, but in order to make them last that long, it's crucial to follow the rules for post-lift care. Aside from not getting your lashes wet for the first 24 hours, you should treat your eye area like a safety hazard zone, also paying attention to your skin-care regimen. Avoid rubbing your eyes and using oil-based products and heavy creams around your eye.

Eyebrow Lamination

Brow lamination is a treatment that allows us to manipulate the brow hairs into a new desired position, either brushed up and fluffy or more as a corrective treatment for sparse brows.

No, brow lamination is a temporary change of the natural brow hair position whereas micro blading is a procedure using a blade to implement pigment into the skin mimicking natural hair strokes.

The treatment result can last for up to 4-6 weeks and new treatment should not be performed any sooner than that

This is a great treatment to help fill in areas of sparseness by brushing the brow hairs into those areas, covering them up and creating a fluffier fuller appearance. However, if there are any huge gaps you might need to use a finishing product (brow pencil or powder).

Of course, just let your technician know about it.
